Charity At S.J.K (T) Methodist, Kapar

After holding a few charity events in many other schools, it was time for me to travel all the way to SJK(T) Methodist which is located at Kapar, Selangor. It was planned a few months ago. My team comprised of both my parents, my sister, her bf and my gf. Before we moved there, all of us gathered at my house in Setia Alam whereby we had our homemade breakfast as well as doing some last minute preparations and arrangements.

School Entrance
We took off in two cars with each of the car carrying their own stuffs ranging from A4 papers, story books and stationeries. It took us half an hour to reach the school and thank god the traffic wasn’t bad at that time.
Upon reaching there, we were greeted by the senior assistant (student affairs) Pn. Mangai. All of us were taken around the school to have a glimpse at the school’s environment and to be frank, the school is much more different from the previous schools that we had visited. The school basically consists of two triple storeys long block which houses the classrooms, teachers’ room, library, office, TV room, science lab and canteen. The school had around 1200 students with more than 60 teachers stationed over there. There are a total of 64 classrooms with every standard having 6 classes each.

Around the school

After walking around and noticing that we were running out of time, we quickly unloaded the items that were crammed in both the cars to be brought over to the office.
Donated items

It took us a while to transport the stuffs to the office since it was located on the second floor. Each of us had our own task during this period of time. One can be seen walking up and down with the teachers transporting the items, the others were busy setting up the items in the office. I was busy snapping my best shots around the school. It was a great teamwork I would say by all of them!

We were then invited to the TV room/multimedia room to distribute the items to the students. Since it was a public holiday, the school only managed to gather around 20 kids to receive the items and all of them seemed to be very excited.

Later on, the senior assistant gave his welcoming speech. In his speech, he told us about the history of the school and the achievement of the students in the school. Than it was time for the goodies-giving ‘ceremony’. Each of the kids came up to me to receive the story books which are donated for the library. ‘Nandri anne. Nandri uncle. ‘. These would be the sentences that I could hear from those kids continuously and of course, I could only utter ‘Nalla padingge thambi/thangachi‘ to all those kids like an automated Sri Rasi Silk Store mannequin’s robotic voice. Finally, I handed over a box of A4 papers (total 14 boxes) to the teacher. Basically the schools need around 1000 papers a month for various usages such as printing letters, exam papers, work sheets and many more. The school also presented me with a token of appreciation.

Distributing The Items To The Kids and Teacher

Receiving the token of appreciation
Then came the most surprising moment of my life. My sister and I were asked to give a short motivating speech to the students. Since it was a Tamil school, I needed to speak in Tamil but my Tamil is very poor. I decided to talk in English and some Malay. I told them how my parents brought me up till how successful I am today. My sister who is a doctor also talked on the same matter and added a few points. From the faces of the students, they looked very motivated and eager to work hard.

The Hindu Sangam of Kapar also organizes religious classes for the surrounding Indian community there.

Religious Classes For The Kids
After that, all of us headed over to the canteen to have some refreshments prepared by the school. The kids can be seen smiling throughout the whole day and they seemed to be enjoying our presence there. We even took some time chatting with them, interviewing as well as took some photography session with them. I’m not sure if those kids enjoyed their day to the max but we did, definitely! Throughout the day, it was really an enjoying moment for all of us and we were glad that we enjoyed each and every second we spent in that school. I take this opportunity to thank all our donators and contributors regardless of the amount that you donated and special thanks goes to those who took their time to spread the word about our charity plan to others although some of you couldn’t afford to donate.
Finally, it was time for us to say goodbye to all those kids and teachers. We packed our stuffs, had a last chat with the teachers and not forgetting, and took some photographs again before leaving the school compound. Although we were tired, but we definitely were delighted to see the smiles on each of the kids face. All these were made possible by our donators and contributors (of course, to our supporters and well-wishers as well). Without you, we are nothing.
We bid farewell to the teachers and kids and left the school around 12.30pm. We did it once again and remember, we will always do it BECAUSE EVERY CHILD COUNTS.
