Helping Hands... SJK (T) SUNGAI KAWANG, LANCHANG PAHANG

 

This would be my 13th charity project since year 2005. This time around I have chosen SJK (T) Sg. Kawang, Lanchang Pahang. The school was suggested to me by my dad. Since he is currently working in Mentakab, he visited the school a few weeks earlier to do some recce work on what the school needs. After finalizing the items to be bought, dad and I headed to the book shop to purchase the items.   

                

 

During the past projects, we used to purchase A4 papers as well as books for the library. In this project, the school requested story books for the library (english and malay) since their library is not well equipped.  We purchased nearly 100 books for various types of levels. It is because most of the students are still not that good in reading. 

The school visit was done on the 18th of july 2013. Like every other project, I will accompany my dad to the schools that we would like to donate. But for this years project, I was unable to go with him since I was away in Labuan. Dad went with his friends and handed over the items to the school. 

The total enrollment at the school is 76 students with 12 teachers. The headmaster of the school is Mr. Manokaran Rajor. The school is located in at Ladang Sg. Kawang, Lanchang. It has got all the basic infractructure but the condition of the buildings are quite bad and old. Although the condition is quite bad but the teachers are very dedicated in teaching the students there. Majority of the students are from poor families. Dad also took down a list of hardcore poor students to get sponsors for them.  Below are a few pictures taken during the visit to the school.

 Although I was unable to visit the school, I am very happy and satisfied that this years project was a success. The project was not a grand and big project but it still served the community especially the indian kids in the rural area. Thanks to my dad for making this event a success.

When Two Hearts Become One.... Kapt Azizul TUDM weds Ida Yatie

On 11th of March 2012, Kapt Azizul finally ended his bachelor days... His wedding was held at his hometown in Rembau, Negeri Sembilan.... Since he was my colleague while he was serving at 5 sqn, so i decided to attend the ceremony... I drove to mej.faizals house at PD and we convoyed to Rembau... The weather was raining all through out the journey...

When we arrived there, the ceremony had already started... Kapt Azizul was all smiling away when he saw us... Took pics and congratulated him.... 

Lunch was superb... The dishes served was chicken, beef, fish, vege and nasi minyak... 

Not to forget, YB Khairy Jamaluddin also made his presence during the wedding ceremony... He is the member of parliament for Rembau... 

We left at around 2pm since i had to take a long drive back to kl.... Congrats again to Kapt Azizul....  

3rd In Malaysian Armed Forces Essay Writing Competition

The Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) organised an essay writing competition in conjunction with the MAF education month.... Various competitions were held such as essay writing (malay & english), book review (malay & english) and poem recital... I took part in the essay writing competition (english category for officers)... My topic was on bribery.... Managed to get 3rd place out of 10contestants... The prize that i took home was RM500 + certificate + novel... The prizes were presented by the chief of Malaysian Armed Forces, Jen Tan Sri Dato Sri Zulkifli bin Mohd Zin... The event was held at the main hall of Ministry of Defence....

Visit To Mej Faizal's House...

 It was a sudden plan to visit my engineering boss Mej. Faizal and his family at his beautiful mansion at Bandar Springhill, P.Dickson.... I drove down there with my dad, sis, her bf and my gf... Lunch was prepared by kak ida... Mouth watering briyani cili api... It is a bungalow house and mej. faizal did all the interior planning for his beautiful house... Part of furniture in the house was specially ordered from Bali, Indonesia...

I was chosen to attend the joint airforce training between Malaysia and Indonesia. It was like a chance of a life time. Flew down to kuching on my little birdie Nuri. Stayed overnight and headed to Pontianak airport (Bandar Udara Supardio) the next day.

 Although the base is much more smaller and far backward than Malaysia, but their Air Force is quite advance in terms of quantity and not quality. Hehehehe.

Like any other exercise it all starts off with the opening ceremony. This years exercise was jointly officiated by the representatives from both countries.

We were given 3million rupiah as our pocket money. I was like an instant millionaire there although converting the money to malaysian currency only gives me RM 600... 

We then checked in to Hotel Mercure, Pontianak... My home for the next 10 days... The hotel is quite new.. The Malaysian Embassy is situated in the hotel... It also has a swimming pool and a gym... That is where i work out everyday after our daily ops..

Through out the 10 days, I visited many places in Pontianak... One of the famous tourist spot is the Tugu Khatulistiwa.. It is the point where the equator line runs through the country... Pontianak basically is a very hot town... Temperature can go as high as 38 degree Celsius during hot sunny day... 

I managed to grab a few souvenirs from the shop situated within the compound of the Tugu... The stuffs are quite expensive since they cater more for foreign tourist... The cost of living in Pontianak is quite high... Majority of the people here are quite well to do... The main economy booster is timber... 

The town of Pontianak is very busy with lots of buildings and vehicles... Lots of shops around to grab local souvenirs... But I didint purchase those fireworks...

 One should not leave Pontianak without tasting the Aloe Vera juice... It is quite famous here... Its a thirst quencher plus cools down the body since the weather here is quite hot...

I even managed to catch a movie during my stay there... Final Destination 5... Price of ticket only RM 9... so cheap!!!....

During the exercise, I did get a chance to fly around Pontianak during the area familiarization flight... The town is so congested with houses.. Something like the squatter homes in Malaysia... heheheh...

Friendly matches (soccer & volleyball) were held to foster friendship and comradeship among the personnel of both countries...

In malaysia we have either pisang goreng or karipap for tea... Over in Pontianak, they served us ubi, jagung, kacang and pisang for tea... The unique things is that all these items are only boiled.... It taste good too...

Pontianak is a place that should be visited.... I hope that I get another chance to visit Pontianak to meet all the cute ceweks (pretty gals in Indon language)....
